Ok - It’s Dec 17th and You Still Have Cards You Want To Make….

Here’s a great solution: Card Fronts! This is the easiest way I know of to make a lot of cards quickly. A “card front” is simply the decorative front of the card - it is usually a little smaller than the finished card (folded cardstock). In the cards above, I created 4″ x 6″ card fronts and adhered them to 5″ x 7″ folded cards (A7).

It’s easier to think in terms of “card fronts” for several reasons, one of which is that it is a smaller canvas than the whole sized card. Also, with a card front - you don’t have to worry about using brads or ribbon, and having them show on the inside of the card. The “unsightly backside” of the brads or eyelets will be hidden between the card front and the card. My favorite reason for creating card fronts - you can make a lot them of one style quickly. Just cut your base paper to 4″ x 6″ and stamp or put on a sticker or a sentiment. Add your ribbon, brads, etc,. Then to create your card, cut coordinating cardstock down to 7″ x 10″ and fold in half (creating a 5″ x 7″ card). Then center and glue down the card front onto the card. You can create variety by choosing different background colors for the cardstock or the base papers. By keeping the card front pattern the same, or similar, you can speed through many cards in a short amount of time.

Another trick - save the fronts of cards you have received - either store bought cards or hand made ones. Then just use them as “card fronts” and adhere onto a cardstock card cut slightly larger than your card front. The only thing to remember here is that you might not want to send out this “recycled” card to the person who had originally sent it to you!

Tomorrow we’ll look at creating the envelopes - quickly!
