Card Making Tips and Techniques 3
Here are two of my new favorite tips. I have fallen in love with Matchbook Style cards. I adore them. They end up being 4″ x 6″ (fits into an A6 envelope), and you can create 3 of them from one sheet of scrapbook paper. First, cut down a sheet to 4″ x 12″, then fold up one end (the bottom of the card) 1″. Now fold the top to just fit under the bottom fold. It is important that the top edge fit under the bottom flap by at least 1/8″. Crease well (with a bone folder or your fingernail). Now, to stabilize the bottom flap, staple at the left and right edge vertically. (I used Fastenator staples). Now the top cover will slide easily under the bottom flap and stay closed.
The other of my favorite new tips demonstrated in this card is the stamp for the address label. Remember, we often speak of cards that will go easily through the mail, and those that are being handed to their recipient. Well, this card will go nicely through the mail. By hand making the envelope to match and putting a tag stamp on the front (instead of an “envelope front” or dimensional tag), it accentuates and frames the area for the addressee, and allows me to just hand write the address in. And yet, it still adds a decorative element to the front of the envelope.
