A Little Effort Goes A Long Way - in Cardmaking!
This is a card I made the other day, and as I was creating it, I kept thinking - this looks harder than it is! I stamped the image with brown dye ink onto glossy cardstock, let dry (seconds), and then colored in the image with watercolor, acid free markers. The markers on the glossy cardstock show up bright and, well, glossy!
Using a deckle edge, I cut out the image from the cardstock, and to create unity, I used the same deckle edge to cut out the vellum quote, and the paper for the card. I used the same deckle edge on the matching envelope as well.
Another reason I like the deckle edges - it is difficult to ascertain if the card has a hole cut in the front and the image is attached on the inside or is the cardstock cut with a deckle edge, and put on the front of the card. If I weren’t looking for this optical illusion, I would have inked the deckle edges (another nice look) - but then it is obvious that the image is attached to the front of the card.
